A wheel is round, so talking about a square wheel seems contradictory. 

Two years ago a student brought a long skate board into class. The board had squared off wheels, so we started talking about it. He explained that the softer square wheels are more comfortable on rough terrain. The square shape allows flex, which removes abuse from the rider.

I can not imagine this interesting idea being used in the bicycle industry. However I loved the implementation.
