The economical 8sp internal hub commuter

The Downtube 8C is the economical 8sp internal hub folding commuter bike. The 8C has a Sturmey Archer 8sp internal hub, a KMC stainless steel chain and standard easy to replace chainring/cogs.

Thanks to the completely sealed Sturmey Archer 8-speed internal hub, damage from dirt and grime is something that you no longer need to worry about. The 8C's smooth rolling hubs, 39T front chainring and 25T rear cog allow for a perfect range on the 20" wheels. This will help you to climb any gear with ease and reach a speed of over 20mph. A clean and quiet ride is also an added perk of the internal hub.

To make the 8C even more convenient, we've added a heavy-duty rack, suspension fork, kickstand, and lightweight fenders to its super-light aluminum frame. The Tecktro V brakes with the double wall machined-sidewall rims on the 8C make a flawless braking experience. The disc front hub means moving over to a disc brake system is quick any easy, though we recommend rim brakes for commuters & travelers.

If you are using the 8C to commute, you'd be please to know that we've added a water bottle braze-on (cage is not included), an interface for the headtube bag system to make your rides much more convenient. The Additional mini-bar ends and high-rise handlebars will give you more comfort by customizing the fit without interfering with the fold.

Whether you are an RVer, a boater or a commuter, the 8C will give you everything you need from a bike and more.

Being the only 8sp internal hub folding bike at under $1000, the $539 price tag on this bike is an opportunity that only exists because of Downtube's unique business model that minimizes cost and prioritizes quality.

    Nice Bike

Posted by James Kirby on Sep 4th 2017

Delivered on time. Had to adjust the hub but other than that we unfolded them and started tiding. Seem to be good quality bikes. We live on a boat so only time will tell how they will fare in the salty air. All in all very happy with them.
