I agree the Arclite is not a good choice if you are going to use panniers. But it keeps things light and compact for folding the bike and taking it with you, and hold all types of things. If you would like to see a picture.... just tell me how to post it. Sorry I love bikes. Computers not so much. On the peddle issue my husband has removable SPE on his bike. They come off in a snap with no tools. Again, only an issue if you are traveling with your bike and don't want them sticking out.

In another forum, a Nova owner posted a picture of his bike with the a rack made by M-Wave:

He said that he got it for about $15 from this company:

The Arclite is a nice rack, but doesn't have as much height as the M-Wave, making it difficult to use panniers (heel strike). Also, it looks like the M-Wave costs half as much!

I liked it so much I ordered one to share with my daughter. We have a Dahon and a Brompton and I have to tell you the Nova is better in many ways. Oh, and I read in one of the posts that the Dahon Arclite rack would fit the Nova so I ordered it. It came today as well and fit like it was made for it. You may want to get one if you are running errands around town. One more thing. My primary bike is a recumbent as well, I have a bad rotator cuff. The stem on the nova is adjustable so I can put it high up and not hurt my solder.

Addendum: I have learned the hard way that it is rather easy to strip the axle nuts by torquing them. So the choices are: Ride with axle bolts too loose to keep the wheel from shifting sideways; torque the bolts and risk stripping; or try and find tugnuts that fit.

I also learned that you can carefully ride home with one axle nut if the other side is held by a tugnut. And apparently you only need one anti-rotation washer to shift the hub. Apparently tugnuts and axle nuts are available at Niagra Cycleworks. I'm ordering a few spares. Does anyone have experience with the double-tabbed antirotation washer that is supposed to prevent axle creep? On my bike ('06 Mini) the chain length is too long to simply reverse the washer and removing a full chain link makes it too short to reverse the washer. Anyone tried this and lived to tell about it?

Did you get your handlepost rewelded or replaced yet? I'm having another problem now. The innner part of the handlepost with the large expander bolt passing through it (held in place by the two set screws on the lower part of the handlepsot) is apparently a separate peice and has worked loose from the outside of the handlepost. Now the handlepost pivots on these set screw about 2mm. I tried putting in some headset spacers but all that did was cause the quill to work it's way up the steering tube and the rocking resumed. This rocking may have been the cause of the initial weld failure.

Yan, can this inner part of the handlepost be removed from the outer part? I'd like to try and put some kind of shim in there. Maybe that can be welded together, too, but it looks tricky. I cannot find a replacement folding stem anywhere. I'm afraid this is very dangerous; the handlepost could give weigh at any time. But I've put so much money into the bike I hate to scrap it now.

I'm about to join the Downtube clan but can't decide between an 8H or 8FH. I've ridden a Brooks Champion Flyer saddle for years and would like to transfer it over to my new Downtube. I've never ridden a rear suspension bike before and am concerned that this plus the Brooks might be overkill. Some of the previous posts have suggested that FS can be a little 'squishy.' I realize that with smaller wheels one is likely to feel the bumps more but with a Champion Flyer do you really need the FS with the extra weight and potential for sucking energy?

Any thoughts or comments much appreciated.

Any more update on the 2010's? I'm interested in getting a downtube, but the belt drive compatibility coming up could be a big deal for me. Belt vs chain might be the difference between being forced to bag the bike or not on the train.

Wanted to know if anyone has attached a Chainglider to any of the DT IGH bikes. The chainglider looks like this:

It kinda floats on the chain and keeps your pants from getting dirty. I'd like to order one if someone reports a positive experience with it. Thanks.

I'll post photos of my drop bar conversion soon. I first tried to use an old Suntour barcon friction shifter, but it didn't work well with the 9-speed derailer. So, I mounted the original grip shifter on a Minoura Space Grip handlebar attachment. That seems to be working fine.

I haven't bought a folder yet, I'm leaning toward the 9FS but they seem to be out of Orange. I did the hose clamp thing, too. I guess it worked, but it also messed up the paint (even with some rubber underneath). I bought locking skewers called "Pitlock". Haven't had any trouble with them and look a lot better than hose clamps.
